The Maldon Ladies

ABOUT US

The group started over 25 years ago as a ladies’ bereavement group in the Methodist church hall, under the umbrella of Maldon Mind when it offered support to ladies with mental health issues.

When they were no longer able to support the group the baton was handed to Rethink who were not interested in having volunteers to lead the group but wanted the members to run it themselves. The people that used this support group were not happy to do this, so it was decided to run the group independently using church members which now meet in the D’Arcy Room at All Saints’ church.

WHAT WE DO

We currently offer friendship and support to women from 16 upwards, suffering loneliness, anxiety, bereavement or just needing a friendly face and someone to talk to. We try to offer (besides tea and sympathy), the opportunity and information to join in community activities.

We have occasional outings and bring and share lunches

and for several years we have had an annual holiday to one of the Warner Hotels.

We also support others in need through sponsoring a third world child through World Vision and Samaritan’s Purse.

We are always there for each other.

We now meet in the D’Arcy Room in All Saints from 2-4pm every Thursday on a drop-in basis for tea, cake and conversation when all are welcome.
